messing around
Messing around, a seemingly useless activity that is actually invaluable for creativity and self-discovery. It is the art of doing nothing, tinkering, playing without a clear goal in mind. For many, it may seem like wasted time, but for those who understand its value, it is an essential part of the process of creating and personal growth.
When I allow myself to be non-functional, to act not from my thinking but from my feeling, I learn to understand myself and my surroundings better.
What do I have before me? What can I do with it? What does my feeling guide me to do? These questions lead me away from the demands of the outside world and bring me back to the core of who I am.
By trusting your intuition and the process, and simply letting it happen, you can often discover astonishing ideas that would otherwise remain hidden. It is as if you are tapping into an inner well of creativity that always flows, but which you can only reach when you allow your mind to wander freely, without limitations or expectations.
In contrast, forcing and overthinking everything I do often leads to blocks and inner unrest. I get entangled in my thoughts, paralyzed by doubt and the fear of making mistakes. This is completely opposed to the free flow of creativity that is inherent in the process of goofing around.
So I try to embrace the art of goofing around once more. I allow myself again to play without purpose, to explore without a map. For it is in these moments of apparent uselessness that the most valuable discoveries are made. It is here, in the space between thought and action, that true creativity thrives and I can continually reinvent myself.
