the process behind my print designs

I start with a very rough idea. Usually, I have a vague image or composition in mind. Sometimes it's even more of a feeling. I sense the direction I want to go, but I still need to figure out how to translate that feeling into my image.
I transfer that basic composition onto the lino block, but only the main lines—no details. I don't sketch every line or pattern in advance. Those emerge gradually as I carve.
I like to keep that freedom during the carving itself. I constantly evaluate what I'm doing and decide in the moment which direction to take. Little by little, I revise my design. Step by step, the artwork develops into a piece that aligns with my initial feeling.
